KAPOW, the family-friendly sci-fi festival, is returning for its third year at Stockton Globe on Saturday 4th July! Whether you’re a lifelong sci-fi fan or completely new to the genre, there’s fun for everyone at this extraordinary event.
In partnership with Who-Ray, KAPOW promises interactive experiences, special guests, cosplay, workshops, traders, and activities for all ages.
Guests will be able to meet iconic characters from across the realms of sci-fi and fantasy, with the beautifully restored art deco venue as a grand backdrop for the event. With plenty of stalls from independent traders, you can enjoy shopping for sci-fi trinkets, with traders such as Who-Ray!, Jet Toys, Crescent Creation and Bowburn Toyfayre. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere, with exciting photo ops including a Gothic Console from Dr Who!
Cosplayers of all ages are welcome, so come along in costume to celebrate your favourite worlds and characters. For those wanting to go the extra mile, our Cosplay Competition is perfect for those wanting to get on stage and show off their costumes and hand-made props, in a fun celebration of fandom creativity!
A range of exciting and interactive activities will be on throughout the day, including consoles, arcade games, and gadgets from across eras provided by Re:Wired Museum & Arcade CIC – a community-run organisation based in Teesside. Guests can test their knowledge of sci-fi and fantasy pop culture by taking part in the Geek Quiz in our sister venue, The LINK, or hone their skills with a writing workshop. The workshop will be hosted by local writer, editor and publisher Gillie Hatton, author of the Thieves’ Guild series, and is perfect for those wanting to craft their own sci-fi stories.
A quiet area will be available throughout the day for those who wish to relax and take a quiet moment away from the bustle of the event. Our quiet area is an inclusive environment for all attendees to use if they wish.
