Bricks, Blocks and Big Ideas… Bishop Auckland Builds a Family Festival Like No Other
Baccanalia is thrilled to announce the return of its summer Family Festival, taking place once again at Jane Armstrong Park on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th August.
This much-loved community event is back for its second year and continues its creative collaboration with Bishop Auckland Town Hall’s summer activities. This year we’re linking with the Town Hall’s LEGO® inspired Brick Flicks exhibition running until 30th August. The Brick Flicks exhibition is made up of the most iconic film moments of all time recreated by Warren Elsmore, the well-known artist in LEGO® bricks.
Tying in with the Brick Flicks theme, this year’s Family Festival celebrates the wonder of imaginative play, and the creativity of building. Families can look forward to an exciting programme packed with hands-on creative workshops, entertainment, competitions and activities that encourage imagination and play for people of all ages.
‘This year’s Family Festival is all about imagination, creativity and building — not just with bricks, but within our community. We’re inviting families, businesses, and young people to come together for a day of playful exploration and hands-on fun. It’s a chance to spark ideas, celebrate local talent, and show that from the smallest block to the biggest idea, anything is possible when we build it together’. Thomas Wales, Director, Baccanalia
Jane Armstrong Park, located on Watling Road opposite Aldi, is a much loved community space, named after a cherished community figure for her significant contributions to the local area. Ideally situated for families from across Bishop Auckland, it serves as the perfect outdoor setting for this celebration of creativity and community.
As part of Baccanalia’s mission to bring positive culture to everyone, everywhere, the Family Festival aims to foster local pride, encourage community connection, and deliver creative experiences right on the doorsteps of local families.
Baccanalia would like to thank the Stronger Towns Fund, Bishop Auckland Town Council and Point North for their generous support and funding which has made this weekend family festival possible.
