FREE Digital Tinkering Workshop at Life Science Centre

FREE Digital Tinkering Workshop at Life Science Centre

If you live in Newcastle, Northumberland or North Tyneside and have a child aged between 9 and 11, these workshops could be perfect for you!

Children will enjoy a hands-on activity building their own robotic puppet to take home!

Using their creative, crafting and computing skills, they’ll learn how to bring a pile of motors and cardboard to life, and explore where the digital and real world meet.

They could create a flapping chicken, a friendly robot or a dancing fish… there is no limit to their imagination!

Places are limited and only for people meeting certain criteria and you must apply here: Digital tinkering workshops – Centre For Life

Upcoming dates:

  • Saturday 13 May
  • Sunday 14 May
  • Saturday 20 May

(Further dates for June will be released shortly).

The workshops are in collaboration with NUSTEM of Northumbria University and are funded by The North of Tyne Combined Authority (NTCA).

Sessions will be supported by our friendly Lead Maker, Molly, in the science centre’s fully equipped Making Studios.

This is a family session which is very hands-on for adults and children. Working and problem solving together is all part of the fun!

Sessions last between 11am – 4pm with a 1-hour break for lunch. You are welcome to bring a packed lunch or visit Times Square Café.
