Celebrate Chinese New Year in Solihull and Warwickshire
The Lunar New Year Festival celebrating Chinese New Year is set to be huge this year in Solihull and Warwickshire. In the Chinese zodiac, 2026 is the Year of the Fire Horse a rare cycle that only appears every 60 years, symbolising energy, momentum and forward motion. The Chinese Lunar New Year begins 17 February 2026.
On 21 February, join Touchwood Shopping Centre, Solihull as they celebrate Chinese New Year and welcome the Year of the Horse with a vibrant community celebration! Enjoy Mahjong workshops, face painting and calligraphy, plus the spectacular lion dance parade, all in partnership with the local Hong Konger community.
Birmingham’s Chinese New Year Celebrations will take place Sun 22 February in Hurst Street to welcome the Year of the Horse. Chinese New Year Festival shines a spotlight on the fantastic talent within our region and promises to wow audiences with both traditional and modern music, dance and theatre performances. It’s a time to wish each other Happy New Year, Xin Nian Kuai Le (in Mandarin) or Sun Nin Faai Lok (in Cantonese).
Brought to life by the Together at Warwick team in collaboration with a diverse range of student societies, there is a schedule packed with vibrant performances, hands‑on crafts, traditional snack tasting, and a wishing tree to share your hopes for the year ahead. Whether you celebrate every year or you’re discovering the festival for the first time, this inclusive, student‑led event is all about connection, culture, and community.
