Young Entrepreneurs Shine at Fryern Federation’s Enterprise Week – Backed by ComputerXplorers

Budding business stars from Fryern Federation showcased their entrepreneurial talents during an exciting Enterprise Week challenge, supported by leading children’s STEM education provider ComputerXplorers.

With creativity, teamwork, and real-life business skills at the heart of the week, pupils from Years 3 to 6 were each given a £50 start-up fund by the school and tasked with creating products or services to sell. From pom-poms to posters, bracelets to baking, the school was transformed into a hive of activity and innovation.

To add even more excitement, ComputerXplorers sponsored a special £100 Entrepreneur Award, awarded to the year group that impressed a judging panel with the best business pitch – in true “Shark Tank” style!

Pitch Perfect: A Showcase of Primary Talent

Each year group prepared and delivered a business pitch, complete with product samples, branding, marketing strategies, and financial plans. The judges, including ComputerXplorers CEO Stuart, were blown away by the imagination, confidence, and teamwork on display.

“The standard of thinking was phenomenal – from the branding and budgeting to the creativity in delivery. These pupils aren’t just learning about business, they’re living it!” said Stuart.

Here’s what the panel had to say:
• Year 3: “So much enthusiasm – they absolutely lit up the room!”
• Year 4: “Great products, nicely branded and really well thought-through financials.”
• Year 5: “We loved the singing – a brilliant twist that made their pitch stand out.”
• Year 6: “Fantastic adverts and excellent communication – real marketing flair!”

After much deliberation, Year 4 were crowned winners of the £100 Entrepreneur Award, thanks to their strong branding, financial acumen, and confident teamwork.

Enterprise Week Fundraising Success

The pupils’ hard work and business savvy certainly paid off, with each year group raising an impressive amount to put towards their end-of-year celebrations:
• Year 6: £600.00
• Year 5: £190.36
• Year 4: £206.70
• Year 3: £103.05

A phenomenal achievement for all involved!

Supporting Future Skills Through Enterprise

The initiative is part of Fryern Federation’s commitment to creative learning, supported by ComputerXplorers, a national leader in children’s computing, coding, and digital skills education.

ComputerXplorers delivers specialist ICT and STEM classes across the UK through after-school clubs, in-school workshops, and holiday camps – all designed to prepare children for the future by igniting their passion for technology and entrepreneurship.

“Enterprise Week perfectly reflects what we believe in at ComputerXplorers – giving children the tools to think critically, work creatively, and solve real-world problems,” added Stuart. “The future is full of opportunity, and these pupils are already seizing it.”

A Message from Acting Headteacher Mrs Roberts:

“We were delighted to be supported by ComputerXplorers for our annual Business Enterprise Week. The week really enables the children to explore the business world. They discuss the different products they could sell, promote their products, and investigate profit margins with the intention of making the most profit possible—profits they then use to pay for an end-of-year treat!

This year was made even more special when the classes had to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges from ComputerXplorers, with the best pitch winning £100 to put towards their profit. Year 4 were the lucky winners!

On behalf of all at Fryern, we would like to thank ComputerXplorers for all their support with this fantastic week!”

Why Enterprise Matters

With growing demand for STEM skills and entrepreneurial thinking in today’s world, events like these provide essential experiences beyond the classroom. Pupils learn how to budget, work as part of a team, problem-solve, and present – all while having fun and building confidence.

It’s a fantastic example of how primary schools can combine business education with hands-on creativity, and how external partners like ComputerXplorers are helping to shape the next generation of changemakers.

Final Thoughts

Enterprise Week at Fryern Federation was a huge success, proving that with the right support and a little spark of imagination, young minds can achieve amazing things.
