Talbot Heath Crowned Double World Swimming Champions
Congratulations to the Talbot Heath Swimming Academy who secured a double win in last weekend’s World School Games Swimming Championships, at the London Aquatic Centre.
Students in the Year 5/6 category were awarded 1st place, as were the pupils in the Year 9/10 category; swimmers in Year 7/8 category were awarded 2nd place. During the two day event, the girls participated in a variety of races, including Freestyle relays, Butterfly, Backstroke and Breaststroke. Many students achieved personal bests and each competitor improved on their previous performances.
Head swimming coach, Barry Aldrick, praised the teams for their outstanding achievements: ‘The team’s collective efforts culminated in a remarkable achievement, garnering an impressive total of 5 Relay Medals (4 Gold, 1 Silver) and 25 Individual Medals (9 Gold, 7 Silver, and 9 Bronze Medals). With great excitement, both the Junior and Senior Teams were crowned Female World School Games Swimming Championships, celebrating their outstanding performances and well-deserved victories. In a testament to their talent and dedication, the Intermediate team also achieved a commendable feat, finishing as runners-up in the prestigious competition, solidifying their status as formidable contenders in the world of school swimming.’
Headteacher, Tracy Harris, congratulated the teams adding: ‘This was a tremendous achievement and the school community are very proud of the team of staff and parents who supported these students to perform at such a high level. This is such a fantastic showcase of the talent and training.’
