Christmas lights switch on dates – Solihull and Warwickshire
The switch on of the Christmas lights marks the start of the festivities in many town centres across Solihull and Warwickshire. Get into the Christmas spirit and head along to your local event.
18 November – Stratford Upon Avon
The superb Christmas Lights Committee’s illuminations will make the town sparkle when they are switched on at 5.30pm. Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate with the Stratford-upon-Avon businesses, embracing the festive season’s joy and community spirit. There will be Christmas Market stalls on Waterside & part of Bridge Street, which will be open from 10am to 7pm.
19 November – Leamington Spa
As we celebrate Diwali, Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Gurpurab and start the countdown to Christmas, come and enjoy a packed programme of entertainment for all the family! Bumper yuletide market, Fairground rides, Local artists performing on the stage. Lights will be switched on at 5.30pm, arrive at The Parade at 5.15pm to see the line-up of people switching on the lights.
23 November – Warwick
Warwick’s popular Victorian Evening returns on Thursday 23 November, offering you the chance to step back in time and experience the sights, sounds and smells of a Victorian Christmas. Starting from 3pm with a Victorian market in the Square and rides and entertainment around the town centre, the performances get underway on the stage at 5pm, with the lights being switched on at 7pm by the Mayor of Warwick, Councillor Oliver Jacques.
24 November – Kenilworth High Street
The High Street switch-on will take place on Friday, November 24 2023 with stalls open from 5pm to 8pm.
24 November – Balsall Common
This year’s lights turn on will be taking place on Friday 24th November 2023, Santa and his sleigh arriving at 4:30pm met with a choir of children from Balsall Common Primary School who will sing carols before the lights are switched on at 5:00pm ……………………. everyone is very welcome!
25 November – Touchwood Solihull
Touchwood’s Christmas light switch on will be on November 25, and as with previous years, the stage is set for the town to transform into a sparkling snowglobe. This is just the start of the festivities at Touchwood.
26 November – Kenilworth Warwick Road
Fairground rides available from midday as well as entertainment on stage from 4pm to 8pm. The lights will be turned on at 6pm.
26 November – Southam
Event begins at 3:00. Bands from 4:15. Lights switch on at 5:00.
27 November – Dorridge
From 5:30. Food, bar and mini fun fair.
29 November – Knowle
Father Christmas will be in attendance, as well as local groups that help make the switch on the grand event it always is. Knowle Christmas light switch on will be on Wednesday November 29, kicking off at 4pm.
2 December – Shirley
Friends of Shirley Park are hosting their annual spectacular Christmas light switch this year on December 2nd from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm.
3 December – Whitnash
Residents of Whitnash will be celebrating the start of Christmas on Sunday 3 December. The event is held outside The Plough & Harrow pub in the town and starts at 4pm with stalls, food, entertainment, and an appearance by Father Christmas. The lights will be switched on at 6pm by Mayor of Whitnash, Councillor Simon Button.
3 December – Cubbington
A celebration will take place on Queen Street and High Street from 5pm to 7pm on Sunday 3 December. The event will feature craft stalls, music, food and drink.
