Family theatre this Summer in the West End

There are some great family musicals on at theatres in the West End, London this Summer. Why not take the kids down on the train and catch a show during the Summer holidays along with a few other tourist sights? Take a look at some of these fantastic options and treat your family to some tickets and an amazing day out!

The Lion King

Booking to 11th February 2024 – Lyceum Theatre, London

summer in west end lion kingIt’s The Circle of Life! Now in its 24th year at London’s Lyceum Theatre, Disney’s The Lion King is a unique theatrical event seen by over 110 million people worldwide. As the sun rises on the plains of the Serengeti, watch in awe as giraffes, gazelles and birds bring the story of Simba to life in a spectacle unlike any other. Directed by Julie Taymor, this captivating reimagining of the beloved Disney animated feature won 6 Tony awards when it premiered on Broadway in 1997. Since then, the production has played in theatres all over the world, and embarked on multiple UK, US and international tours. With a book by Roger Allers and Irene Mecchi, and music and lyrics by Elton John, Tim Rice and Lebo M, the show has some of the most memorable songs in the Disney musical theatre canon, including Circle of Life, Hakuna Matata and Can You Feel the Love Tonight.

 Back to the Future: The Musical

20th August 2021 – 11th February 2024 – Adelphi Theatre, London

Great Scott! Olivier Award Winning musical BACK TO THE FUTURE is currently wowing audiences at London’s Adelphi Theatre. Adapting the iconic story BACK TO THE FUTURE for the stage are the movie’s creators Bob Gale and Robert Zemeckis. As well as original music by multi-Grammy Award winners Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, the show features timeless songs from the movie including The Power of Love, Johnny B Goode, and Back in Time. Directed by Tony® Award-winning director John Rando, the arrival of this plutonium-powered production means one thing’s for sure: musical theatre will never be the same again!

2nd June – 28th October 2023 – Dominion Theatre, London

It’s Grease Lightening! The world’s best-loved musical GREASE is returning to the West End’s Dominion Theatre in 2023 from the 2nd June until the 28th October only. The Spongebob Musical

26th July – 27th August 2023 – Queen Elizabeth Hall, London

The Wizard of Oz
