Youth Acting Summer School in Leamington Spa
Heartbreak Productions invites young performers aged 7-11 to join our fun-filled, high-energy, three-day Youth Acting Summer School in Leamington Spa.
Each day of our Youth Acting Summer School will focus on a different theme. We will explore script work, creating exciting characters, and working as a team to create performances to be proud of. The young people will use their imagination and creativity skills to work across texts including Shakespeare and classic Children’s authors. They will also spend a day devising a performance, which they will then share with you at the end of the week.
Heartbreak has 15 years of experience running children’s performance classes and workshops in Leamington Spa. We love helping young people to build confidence and communication skills through theatre.
Our acting summer school will be crammed full of games, acting exercises, laughter, and plenty of breaks for snacks and lunch. We hope you will join us for these fun-filled, uplifting few days.
WHAT WILL THE YOUTH ACTING SUMMER SCHOOL IN LEAMINGTON SPA INCLUDE?
Day 1 – Tuesday 13th Aug 10-3pm: “Classics Day”
We’ll explore extracts of a much-loved classic text and create unique characters that live inside that world.
Day 2 – Wednesday 14th Aug 10-3pm: “Shakespeare Day”
Working as a team, we’ll create both the landscape and soundscape for the exciting world of The Tempest.
Day 3 – Thursday 15th Aug 10-3pm: “Devising Day” + sharing for Family and Friends
On our final day, we’ll produce an original piece of theatre on a topic chosen by the young people on an issue that means something to them. (We’ll also rehearse the other pieces of work we’re sharing at 2.30pm)
How can I add wraparound care?
Wraparound care is available from 9-10 am and 3-4 pm on each day for an additional cost of £5 per hour – and is subject to availability. These sessions will be led by our Heartbreak team and will involve drama games, crafts, musical mayhem and more!
What shall I bring?
Don’t forget your packed lunch! We’ll have a break for everyone to enjoy their packed lunches together, and will have short breaks throughout the day for snacks and drinks.

We recommend wearing loose, comfortable clothing and shoes that you can move around in freely.
Where can I find you?
Our Summer School will be held at North Hall, Spencer Yard, Leamington, CV31 3SY – our headquarters in the heart of Leamington’s Creative Quarter. On day 1 we’ll have someone from our team outside to welcome you. This is a drop-off summer school with family & friend invited to our sharing at 2.30pm on the final day.
We are located next to Leamington’s Railway Station and also have on-street parking and Pay & Display parking within walking distance. North Hall is fully accessible. You are welcome to email any questions to marketing@heartbreakproductions.co.uk
Meet your Summer School Teacher:
Alex Varey is an actor, primary school teacher and facilitator, who trained at the Guildford School of Acting. As an actor, Alex has toured around the UK and abroad, with companies including the Guildford Shakespeare Company, Young Shakespeare Company and Antic Disposition, performing many of Shakespeare’s most loved plays. As a teacher, Alex enjoys inspiring confidence in his students and regularly works with the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company) as part of their Associate Schools Programme. Alex is passionate about bringing theatre to young people and the importance of the Creative Arts in every child’s education.
