Tournament of Champions
Summer’s just around the corner and that can only mean one thing in Sherwood Forest – the Robin Hood Festival.
This year’s event – the 37th Festival to be held here – will take place over 14 days, across five weekends.
We’ll have spectacular arena shows, outdoor cinema, re-enactment, comedy, magic, music and much more.
King Henry VI is proud to announce that on the 19th and 20th of August, Sherwood Forest will be hosting the tournament of champions.
Tensions have been rising recently between the Yorkists and the Lancastrians and rumours have been brewing that a civil war may be coming.
The tournament of champions will bring together these political powerhouses and unite the nation.
Knights from both houses will compete for a chance to win the coveted golden sword in the melee tournament and the legendary golden arrow in the archery tournament.
We’ll have the Ferrers Household, the Lord Thomas Stanley Retinue and Sir John Savile’s Household.
All day, you will have the opportunity to meet the knights who will be competing and watch them train before the tournament.
Who better to cheer for in the tournament than the knights you have got to know.
You will also have a chance to learn about the life and times of those who lived during the war of the roses, sharpen your archery skills, become a knight with the fantastic knight school and so much more!
There’ll be storytelling with Sir Robert of Wentbridge and some soothing sounds, courtesy of musicians Blast from the Past and Myal & Peg.
