Teddy Bear Hospital Main Event

Is your teddy feeling under the weather? Bring them along to Sheffield’s Teddy Bear Hospital

Student Doctors from the University of Sheffield will be holding a drop in Teddy Bear Hospital session for children and their families at Firth Court (Western Bank, Sheffield, S10 2TN).

The event will be an interactive fun filled session aimed to reduce childhood anxiety about hospitals and doctors, and to promote child health as well as giving Student Doctors valuable experience with children.

The session will be free and will take place on Saturday February 25th at Firth Court.

The ‘hospital’ will be open from 10am-4pm as a FREE ticketed session. We will hold 2 periods labelled Quiet Hour (10-11am and 3-4pm) which are reserved for children who benefit from visiting at a time when there is a calmer background sensory environment (for example, some autistic children and neurodiverse families).

The event is aimed for children aged 3 – 9 but everyone is welcome. Don’t forget to bring your favourite bear!

Children and their bears will have the opportunity to have a one to one consultation with a teddy bear doctor, followed by many interactive sessions where children will be able to look at x- rays, a teddy MRI, use stethoscopes to listen to their hearts, get teddy bandaged and talk about any fears or concerns they may have. Also, several exciting stations will be run by the University of Sheffield Orthoptics and Dental Students.

Teddy Bear Hospital is a great way to get children thinking about their health. Children will also have the opportunity to learn about healthy eating, hygiene and exercise through fun interactive workshops led by Student Doctors. With health promotion being one of the government’s key issues, this is the ideal way to educate your child in the benefits of staying fit and healthy.
