Severn Valley Railway Autumn Steam Gala
As the leaves turn multiple shades of autumn colours, the Severn Valley Railway Autumn Steam Gala will welcome a selection of guest locomotives alongside its fantastic home steam engine fleet, with four days of intensive timetabling from Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th September.

Thursday – The Big Four
- We celebrate the 100th anniversary of the ‘Big Four’ Grouping Act with GWR 7714, GWR 4930 ‘Hagley Hall’, LMS 43106, LNER 61306 ‘Mayflower’ and SR 21C127 ‘Taw Valley’.
- We celebrate the grand-reopening of Eardington Station with shuttles between Bridgnorth and Highley.
- We recreate the first train to depart from Bridgnorth in 1970 with 43106, as it hauls a 2pm departure formed of LMS carriages from Bridgnorth, calling at Eardington Station, and terminating at Hampton Loade.
- Whilst the large engines haul passenger trains, GWR 7714 will work a pick-up goods between Kidderminster and Highley, with shunting demonstrations at stations to reform the wagons.
Friday to Sunday – The Main Event
- Everything you love to see at our Autumn Steam Galas will be taking place, with an intensive timetable operating each day with all available engines in service, including overnight running on Friday and Saturday with BR 75069.
- You’ll be able to ride on through trains (some running non-stop) and local services, and see goods trains rumbling along.
- Double-headers and top ‘n’ tailing.
- Local trains stopping at Eardington Station.
- Dining services, including morning breakfast trains on Saturday and Sunday (walk up, first come first served) and evening ‘Pie & Mash’ suppers on Friday and Saturday (pre-booking available soon).
- Mini beer festival at The Engine House.
- Battle of Britain Memorial Flypast with a Spitfire on Saturday!
