Families are invited to step into a world of festive magic in the Tearooms in Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.
The air will be filled with the scent of a delicious cooked breakfast and the sparkle of Christmas cheer as guests settle in for a truly special morning. While everyone enjoys their meal, the jingle of sleigh bells will signal the arrival of Santa Claus himself! He’ll stop at every table to share a warm hello, hand-deliver a special gift to each child, and pose for that all-important festive photo to treasure forever. Cheerful elves will be on hand to spread extra Christmas joy and make sure everything runs as smoothly as Santa’s sleigh.
New for 2026: Your ticket also includes on the day admission to Thinktank! Head over after Breakfast to stay and play all day and make the most of your festive family day out!

- Menu Options:
-Children: Pancakes or mini English breakfast, juice or milk.
-Adults: Full English breakfast, vegetarian option, tea or coffee. - Babies in arms (under 12 months) do not require a ticket if they are accompanying another paying child, unless you would like them to have the full Santa experience with a meal and gift.

You never know where Father Christmas might appear at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery this festive season!
Santa will be taking a break from his workshop for a wander around the museum, making surprise appearances through the galleries. Keep your eyes peeled and you might just spot the man in red as you explore.
Stop and say hello, snap a festive photo together and enjoy a little extra Christmas magic during your visit. There’s no need to book and no extra charge, so simply come along and see if you can spot Santa!
Good to know
- Santa’s walkabouts are free to enjoy.
- Each walkabout lasts approximately 30 minutes.
- Santa will be out and about from 11:30am-12pm and 2pm-2:30pm.
- There’s no need to book, just keep your eyes peeled!
- Santa will be moving around the museum, so his exact location will be a festive surprise.
Santa’s Workshop at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery
Step into the magic of the season at Santa’s Workshop at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, where little ones are welcomed into a cosy, festive setting to meet Santa himself.
Children will gather round to meet Farther Christmas, before heading to his workshop with our Christmas Elves for a hands-on craft activity. While families get creative, each child will be invited to meet Santa personally to receive a special gift and have a photo taken to remember the day. This 45-minute experience is filled with festive cheer, creativity, and memorable moments, making it the perfect way to celebrate the season together.

- Tickets to see Santa are an additional charge, priced at £7.00 per child
- Babies in arms (under 12 months) do not require a ticket if they are accompanying another paying child unless you would like them to have the full Santa experience with a gift.
- The Grotto is located on Level 2.
- The event takes place at 1 pm and 3 pm on weekends and Christmas holidays from 5th of December till the 23rd of December.
- Pre-booking is strongly advised
