Planet Parade Solar System Trail

Explore Leicester like never before with Planet Parade, a free, family-friendly trail bringing the solar system to life across the city centre.

Created by around 250 local children working alongside professional artists, this exciting outdoor trail features bold and imaginative planet artworks displayed at venues throughout the city. Families can follow the trail to discover all eight planets, along with the Sun at the National Space Centre, while learning fascinating space facts and celebrating Leicester’s proud space heritage.

Take Part in the Digital Trail

Download the My Leicester app to join the Planet Parade digital trail. As you visit each planet, simply check in on the app to track your progress. Once you’ve discovered all eight planets and the Sun, you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win a fantastic prize bundle, including:

• A £200 Leicester Gift Card

• A family day out at the National Space Centre

• A Ziggy soft toy

Trail explorers who complete the digital trail can also collect a free Ziggy badge from the National Space Centre ticket office (available 12:00–16:00, while stocks last). One completed trail equals one badge.

Launch Day – Sunday 30 March

Celebrate the launch of Planet Parade with a spectacular free event open to everyone.

Starting at Leicester Cathedral from 4:30pm, a vibrant procession of dancers, musicians and stunning planetary creations will make its way through the city centre to the Haymarket Shopping Centre, a true Parade of the Planets.

At Haymarket, families can enjoy live performances, hands-on activities, and collect their official trail map to begin their solar system adventure.

Planet Parade is free to attend and offers a fun, creative and educational day out for families this spring.
