Northern Lights at Abbey Park, Leicester

Northern Lights is coming to Leicester for the first time, and it’s turning Abbey Park into a mile-long winter light trail. I’m already picturing wrapping the children up warm for an evening of wandering through the light installations, spotting hidden moments of magic, then warming back up in the Christmas Village with festive food, drinks and a spot of fairground fun.

It’s from the team behind Kendal Calling and Bluedot festivals, who’ve clearly got a knack for this – the Radio Times, the Guardian and the Times have all named it among the best Christmas light trails in the UK, and over 1.2 million people have walked one since it launched in 2021. Now it’s Leicester’s turn!
