
Medieval Experience Weekend at Avoncroft Museum
Step back into the Wars of the Roses as Avoncroft Museum brings the Battle of Loosecote Field to life!
Watch Yorkist forces storm rebels on the hill in a dramatic re-enactment complete with cannon fire, archery, and a climactic clash between Edward IV’s men and the rebels of Sir Robert Welles. Alongside the battle, enjoy seeing the firepower of the medieval world with archery and gunpowder displays, learn about medieval fashion, and explore living history encampments throughout the day. A thrilling, family-friendly event where history marches, roars, and fights before your eyes!

The Beaufort Companye will be on site to show you the costumes, trades, skills and history of this important period of British History.
Throughout the day there will be demonstration battles where you’ll hear the clash of sword and the bang of cannon in a spectacular clash of arms and armour.
Multiple 15th century groups will be joining us for the weekend – with living history camps throughout the site on the windmill field, around the buildings and to the right and left of main arena set out on the New Guesten Hall Lawn area ( main artillery park will be in one of these).
See how Medieval people lived, how they cooked and prepped their food, made their clothes what work they did and games they played.
Bring your rugs and chairs or make use of the Museum seating around the main arena and explore the rest of the site to visit the camps.
New for this year, visitors will be able to follow the staging of the battle of Loosecote field, around three areas across the 19 acre site,
notable as a desperate rear guard action spread over a big distance.
Hot and cold Food and drink will be available from the tearooms and in Guesten Hall at the event café
