Made In Sheffield
The 26th August – 3rd September sees The National Videogame Museum invite visitors to explore the city’s rich gaming heritage in their freshly revamped ‘Made In Sheffield’ exhibit.
Spanning forty years of history that began with Gremlin Graphics, the exhibit shines a light on the city’s legacy of videogame development through interactive games and unique objects, including Sumo Digital’s actual BAFTA Award for 2020’s ‘Sackboy: A Big Adventure’.
Alongside Sheffield made favourites ‘Zool’, ‘Gang Beasts’, and ‘Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing’, visitors can test their (virtual) boxing skills in their newly introduced heavyweight title, ‘Undisputed’. Created by Sheffield’s newest developer, Steel City Interactive, visitors can compete with friends and family for the world title in an exclusive beta version of the boxing title. Not due for official release until October 2024, the game boasts 70 licensed fighters to choose from.
There will also be creative activities to take part in throughout the Sheffield Showcase weekend. Write your own videogame jingle using a BBC:Microbit inspired by the Gremlin Graphics videogame ‘Wanted: Monty Mole’ or craft and colour your own costume designs for Sackboy or Gang Beasts.
