History Through the Ages Reenactment

History Through the Ages Reenactment

Our reenactment is back as we bring to life history from across the centuries! Step back in time and experience how people lived in different ages, have a go at wielding weapons, get up close with birds of prey and see combat first-hand. All this set amongst our Tudor ruins with activities for children (and adults!) to have a go at.

What will I see?

The English Civil War with Newcastle’s Foote
A regiment of the Sealed Knot Society. See a living history camp with drill displays and a regimental muster based on the English Civil War.

The Norman Conquest with Sudrjovik Living History
Part of Regia Anglorum who portray all aspects of life in ages past. In this instance, they will be reenacting the Norman era from 1066 with a living history camp and drill displays.

The Wars of the Roses with the Ferrers Household
A full living history camp with a pole lathe, carpenter, pewter castor, bow-maker and fletcher, period jewellery-making, armoury display, pyrography, weaving and spinning wheel, plus a kids’ bill drill.

The Napoleonic Wars with the Coldstream Guards 1815
Based on the Battle of Waterloo in which the Coldstream Guards played a major part. Experience their living history camp and drill displays including firing.

What else can I do?

  • Have a go at kids’ jousting
  • Dress up in Tudor costumes
  • Explore the sixteenth century Turret House

Food is available from our food vans or bring a picnic. Snacks and refreshments are available in The Discovery Centre.
