Get in the spirit of Halloween with a visit to Ormesby Hall during October Half Term. Are you brave enough to step inside the spookily decorated house?
Every October half term an eerie feeling hangs over the Georgian mansion as it’s taken over by Halloween. To create a darker atmosphere at this most terrifying time of year, the shutters remain closed in the rooms, an inviting enviroment for all things spooky move in!
Gothic Tales Trail: self-led trail
Escape into the garden and follow the gothic tales trail to find where the monsters lurk….. Along the way families can choose the words to create their own spooky tale, but careful there has been some spooky happenings in the garden of Ormesby Hall!

Wand making: self-led activity
Saturday 22 – Sunday 30 October, 10.30am – 4pm
Every spell caster needs a wand, so this October half term children can make their own. The stick chooses the witch and so each child will need to seek their perfect collected stick and then personalise the decoration with a selection of wool and ribbon.
Witches Dance: led activity
Monday 24 – Thursday 27 October
Did you know each coven of witches have a special dance? Join our cackling friendly Ormesby witches each day to learn their unique dance moves before having a go yourself. The witches will be dancing away at timed sessions, from 10.45am – 3pm.
Halloween evenings: Thursday 27 and Friday 28 October
Experience a spooktacular evening as darkness falls on Ormesby Hall and the ghouls and ghosts come out to play. Experience Ormesby Hall at night and head inside the mansion to see the rooms decorated for Halloween, but watch out, you don’t know who might be lurking along the way. Children can also make themselves a wand to take home. The cafe will be open, along with food and drink stalls, but the garden and gothic tales trail will be closed on the evening. Normal admission applies to visit on the evenings.
The Wicked School of Magic: led activity
Friday 27 – Sunday 30 October
We are excited to welcome The Walking Theatre Company to perform their Wicked School of Magic at Ormesby Hall this Halloween.
Witches and Ghosties, horrors to fright,
The School of Magic is open tonight.
Everyone welcome, naughty and good.
Walk with us into the Halloween Wood.
Join them in the marquee for half hour performances at 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.

Don’t forget everything else Ormesby Hall has to offer too. The natural play area, croquet, beautiful formal garden, model railway layouts, second hand bookshop and cafe.
An admission ticket for the house and garden is needed to visit and enjoy the activities, with National Trust members and under 5s receiving free admission. No need to pre-book your visit or the events, just come on the day or evening. For more information click HERE
