Glenister’s: From Bar Stool to Coronation Stools Talk

Glenister’s: From Bar Stool to Coronation Stools Talk

This talk by Catherine Grigg of Wycombe Museum (which is known to many as the Chair Museum) explores the history of Thomas Glenister’s Furniture Factory of Temple End, High Wycombe. The factory site was demolished in the 1990s and redeveloped as a supermarket – now Morrisons. This talk traces Glenister’s humble beginnings in the 1830s as a side hustle to a pub, through to closure in 1990. In its heyday, Glenisters made furniture for Royal occasions and were at one time the largest furniture employer in town. This a great way to learn more about High Wycombe’s unique furniture making heritage.

For adults.

This talk is a repeat of one delivered at Wycombe Museum in 2023.
