Family Time: The Princess Diaries
Spending time with the grandparents this summer? Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway) has a unique relationship with hers – played by the legendary Julie Andrews – in this modern classic Family Time pick, The Princess Diaries.
Shy, socially awkward teenager Mia Thermopols lives in San Fransisco with her mum and their cat Fat Louie. She is perfectly normal in every way; she likes climbing, painting, and spending time with her best friend Lilly. That is, until she receives news from her estranged grandmother that she is the heir to a throne!
Learning that she is a real-life princess, Mia finds she must change to fit in with her new title, getting a makeover and taking “princess lessons” for her prim and proper new relations. However, when this begins to take a toll on the rest of Mia’s life, she is forced to make some tricky decisions, and teaches the rest of high society a thing or two along the way.
The Princess Diaries is rated U, though it contains very mild language and sex references. For fans of Cinderella, Freaky Friday, and The Princess Switch.
Family Time screenings feature subtitles and low-level lighting for accessibility and comfort for all.
