Durham Brass Festival

Durham Brass Festival

Durham Brass Festival is back from Sunday 12 to Sunday 19 July, and this year is celebrating a special birthday; 20 years of bringing one of the biggest celebrations of brass to the region.

The much-loved annual event is inspired by the brass band heritage of Durham, celebrating brass music in all its forms and bringing together all musical genres in a wonderful week-long festival.

The full programme of spectacular performances includes the ever-popular FREE Brass Bash events.

Brass Bashes bring the festival spirit to communities across County Durham with free, family-friendly performances from the brilliant street bands. Taking place in parks, town centres and open public spaces, these lively popup events fill the summer air with energy, colour and unforgettable music.

Each Bash features a mix of UK and international brass street bands, creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere for all ages.

Whether you want to dance, sing along or simply enjoy the show, Brass Bashes are the perfect way to experience the joy of brass close to home. They’re all free to attend and you don’t need to book – just turn up and get ready to be entertained!

There are free Brass Bashes taking place in Willington, Spennymoor, Seaham, Newton Aycliffe, Shildon, Quarrington Hill, Crook, Barnard Castle, Bishop Auckland and Coxhoe.

You can also see them performing in locations across Durham City on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July and for something a little different, you can book tickets to join them as they cruise along the River Wear on the Prince Bishop.

For an amazing experience, Party in the Park at Wharton Park on the evening of Saturday 18 July is not to be missed.
