Children’s Building Society at Compton Verney
Children’s Building Society at Compton Verney is the outdoor build where children are in charge and give jobs to the adults.
Children and their grown-ups will use hammers, saws, drills and wood to construct either a life-size castle, boat or aeroplane.
Children and their grown ups will be involved in
- design and engineering
- building the structure
- structural detail
- decoration and animation
- playing in what they have built
During the build of the structure, there is the opportunity to add slides, swings, ladders, ropes, pulleys and moving parts.
Each session will have 5 Woodland Tribe staff to support and guide the process:
- site manager
- carpenter
- playworker
- set designer
- artist
Participants will work in small groups with the team but have the freedom to move around different aspects of the build as they please.
After the children have gone home, the structure is taken apart and put back in the van ready to do a different build the next day.
