Celebrating a Victorian Christmas at Blists Hill

In the run-up to Christmas, step back to the Victorian era and discover the origins of the festive traditions we know and love today.

Around the town, streets and buildings will be decked with traditional decorations, and you and your family can take part in a variety of festive activities.

Kids can follow one of two Christmas trails for different age groups, each including a gift at the end. Explore the town’s lively streets filled with characters from A Christmas Carol, make your own festive pomander, print a Victorian, Dickens-style poster, or write a letter to Father Christmas and seal it with wax. Make a Christmas wish on the wishing tree, browse the toy shop pop-up and gift emporium for presents, and enjoy delicious treats from the Forest Glen and other festive food around the site. Enjoy live festive music from choirs and brass bands and watch a dramatic retelling of A Christmas Carol and other Christmas stories in our special Victoria & Albert Playhouse.
