Celebrate Hopetown Darlington’s second birthday!
Looking for a great day out with the kids this summer? Hopetown Darlington is turning two, and families are warmly invited to join in the celebrations. Since opening on 16 July 2024, Hopetown has quickly become a much-loved destination where families can explore, learn and enjoy time together. Over the past two years, it has grown into a vibrant, welcoming space filled with hands-on experiences, exciting events and plenty to discover.
It’s been wonderful to see so many families enjoying the site and making memories together. Along the way, they have also had the honour of receiving a Royal Visit, as well as hosting major events such as the S&DR200 festival, celebrating Darlington’s place at the very heart of railway history. With new steam train rides now part of the experience, there is even more for visitors of all ages to look forward to at Hopetown. Most importantly of all, the attraction has welcomed more than 350,000 visitors through our doors in just under two years!
To mark this special milestone, Hopetown is hosting a family-friendly birthday celebration packed with things to enjoy. There will be live music throughout the day to create a relaxed and festive atmosphere, along with plenty of cake to make it feel like a proper birthday party. As part of the “Let The Games Begin” summer programme, children can take on the challenge of a climbing wall, offering a fun and active experience. Alongside this, a bubbleologist will be on site, delighting younger visitors with impressive bubble displays and interactive fun.
