The go-to guide for you and your child

Sheffield Libraries

Activities, Council Services

Sheffield Libraries are located across the city providing free access to resources in a variety of formats.

Come and see what we have to offer.

You’ll be amazed to find out what you can do at your local library.  If you are not a member why not join us.

There are 27 libraries across the city, all with various opening times to suit your needs. Each one has different facilities which include books and dvd’s to borrow, computers to use (FREE), photocopying services, childrens activities and reading sessions plus various other activities.

As well as regular events such as baby-time and book groups, delve into a series of special events celebrating the vibrancy and diversity of public libraries.

Enjoy best-selling author visits, professional storytelling and book quizzes, alongside art workshops, live performance, and well-being events.  Expect local history, local business and local talent.

There’s something for everyone.

For more information on events, check out our website.

Children can go along to any library and also take part in the Sheffield Children’s Book Award by borrowing and reading and voting for their favourite from the shortlist. Plus make sure your children join the Summer Reading Challenge. The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year during the summer holidays. You can sign up at your local library, then read six library books of your choice, collecting stickers and other rewards along the way – all FREE.
