The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds is home of the national collection of arms and armour. Its galleries contain amazing displays of weapons for war, tournament and self-defence from around the world, as well as iconic props from movies and popular culture.
A few highlights of the collection include the Lion Armour, the tournament armours of King Henry VIII, and an Indian elephant armour – the heaviest in the world, but with over 8,500 objects on display you’re bound to discover your own favourite treasures.
A daily programme of free live interpretations, combat demonstrations, talks and tours really bring the collection to life and gives you the chance to get your hands on history.
There’s an action-packed annual events programme including themed-weekends, jousting tournaments (Easter and August), school holiday activities, and a brand-new Crossbow Challenge.
