HMS TRINCOMALEE – THE OLDEST WARSHIP STILL AFLOAT IN EUROPE
The National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool is the perfect place for a family adventure as you journey to an authentic 18th century seaport and the spectacular HMS Trincomalee.
TAKE IN THE HISTORIC QUAYSIDE SETTING
Travel back in time and take in the 18th century seaport and its beautiful waterside setting. See how tradesmen like tailors, printers and instrument makers earned a wage and how people spent their leisure time playing traditional games.
Experience the explosive firepower of our guns with exciting live demonstrations and re-enactments all year round. The historic quayside is brought to life as you meet press-ganged sailors from the Georgian Navy who lived onboard HMS Trincomalee.
Let your little ones loose at the Children’s Maritime Adventure Centre and challenge yourselves onboard the new outdoor, pirate ship play area !
Our fantastic, outdoor, pirate ship play area includes an inclusive low-level roundabout to accommodate wheelchair users and a special ship for tiny sailors as well as a bigger sailing ship for older children. Everyone is welcome to come along on this special day (new play area opens at 12 noon)
