NEW SWIM ACADEMY TO HELP MORE PEOPLE ENJOY SWIMMING FOR LIFE

WYCHAVON LEISURE LAUNCHES NEW SWIM ACADEMY TO HELP MORE PEOPLE ENJOY SWIMMING FOR LIFE

Wychavon Leisure, operating as Rivers Fitness, have officially launched their new STA Swim Academy, giving children and adults across Worcestershire access to an improved swimming lesson programme focused on building confidence, developing water safety skills and supporting swimmers at every stage of their journey.

The new programme, which launched on 4th July, is now available at Evesham Leisure Centre and Pershore Leisure Centre, with Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre set to join following its reopening in September this year.

Designed to support swimmers of all ages and abilities, the STA Swim Academy offers a clear pathway from first time swimmers through to more advanced stages with an embedded focus on water safety skills from a young age. Alongside the refreshed Learn to Swim programme, Rivers have also introduced new opportunities including Junior Lifeguard training, Distance Development, and a new adult swimming pathway.

As part of the launch, Rivers have also become an STA Approved Training Centre, allowing the organisation to deliver nationally recognised swimming teacher qualifications and invest in training the next generation of swim teachers.

Stacey Evers, Swim Manager at Rivers, who has also trained as an Aquatic Tutor, said:

“We’re really excited to be launching as both an STA Swim Academy and an Approved Training Centre. The new STA qualifications are delivered to a very high standard, and the ongoing support available for teachers through CPDs helps ensure our team can continue developing their skills long after completing their course. The enhanced focus on water safety is a real strength of the new qualifications, giving our swimmers valuable life skills alongside their swimming development and reinforcing our commitment to keeping every child safe and confident in the water.

Being able to deliver training in house will give us the flexibility to develop our workforce in line with our operational needs, while ensuring we maintain consistently high standards across our swimming programmes.”

The move reflects Rivers’ continued commitment to providing high quality, inclusive swimming opportunities for local communities, while investing in the future of swimming education across Worcestershire.
