Read to the Beat with Worcestershire Libraries this Summer

Read to the Beat with Worcestershire Libraries this Summer

Children across Worcestershire are being invited to turn up the volume on reading this summer as the Summer Reading Challenge 2026 launches in libraries across the county on Saturday 4 July.

This year’s Summer Reading Challenge theme, Read to the Beat, celebrates the power of stories, music and creativity, encouraging children aged 4–11 to discover the joy of reading throughout the summer holidays. Free to join, the challenge aims to help children maintain and develop their reading skills while school is out, supporting confidence, imagination and a lifelong love of books.

Libraries across Worcestershire will host a variety of engaging activities inspired by the theme, giving families plenty of opportunities to take part in creative, fun and educational experiences together. Participants will be encouraged to read regularly over the summer, collect rewards and celebrate their achievements as they progress through the challenge.

The Summer Reading Challenge has become a highlight of the school holiday calendar, helping thousands of children stay connected with reading while enjoying a sense of accomplishment and discovery. It also offers families an opportunity to explore their local library, access free resources and take part in community events.

With reading, rhythm and creativity at its heart, Read to the Beat promises to make this summer an exciting adventure for young readers across Worcestershire. Registration opens from Saturday 4 July at participating Worcestershire libraries.
