Top Tips for a marvellous May Half Term in Solihull and Warwickshire
May Half Term is about to arrive hot in the heels of Easter. With a bank holiday and (hopefully!) better weather you’ll need to plan ahead for this week to make sure you make the most of it. To help you get ready, we’ve pulled together a round-up of our 12 favourite places to go and things to do around Solihull and Warwickshire this May Half term!
1. West Midlands Safari Park – Giraffe Jamboree
A brand-new event, celebrating one of the most iconic animals at the Park – the tower of beautiful giraffes! There will be a brand-new, exciting show, trails, competitions and the chance to win amazing prizes. There will also be the chance to see the newest members of the herd – calves Namara and Olive, as well as learning all about these incredible creatures.
2. Hatton Adventure World – Junior Jurassic
Junior Jurassic is back – bigger, better, and bolder than ever! Get up close with life-sized dinosaurs, take part in thrilling interactive shows, and enjoy hands-on animal encounters perfect for the whole family.
Stratford Butterfly Farm is inviting families to enjoy the magical experience of wandering through the tropical rainforest filled with colourful butterflies. With fish-filled pools, waterfalls and lush plants and blooms, the popular family attraction is the perfect place to share a moment of wonder.
4. The Chocolate Shed – Chocolate Making workshops
Children’s Chocolate Making Workshops in our Warwickshire chocolaterie for children to come and celebrate the joy of making hand made chocolates. During this season’s workshops we are offering children the opportunity to come and and try their hand at chocolate making and make some delicious chocolatey treats to take home with them and enjoy.
In a Snapshot… The MAD Museum does what it says on the tin! Based in the center of Stratford upon Avon, this quirky attraction displays interactive pieces of mechanical art, in particular; kinetic art and automata.
6. Market Hall Museum – Fossil Trail
Dive into Jurassic Warwickshire’s watery world this May Half term in Warwickshire and follow our free family trail to hunt for fossils and beasts in the museum.
7. Birmingham Hippodrome – The Gruffalo (21 – 24 May) / Belgrade Theatre, Coventry – The Gruffalo (27 – 30 May)
Tall Stories’ much-loved magical, musical adaptation of the classic picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler returns by popular demand, celebrating the show’s 25th anniversary.
8. Village Hotel, Solihull – Inside The T Rex

Step into the Science Garden and travel back millions of years at our exciting Dino Lab experience! Become a fossil hunter as you create your very own dinosaur trackway. Using dinosaur footprints, you’ll design a prehistoric pathway and discover how scientists interpret the clues left behind by dinosaurs long ago.

12. Thornborough Events – Reggae and Ska Weekender
Friday 29 & Saturday 30 May 2026. The Reggae & Ska Weekend returns to Thornborough for two days of live music, relaxed festival atmosphere, and early-summer energy. Across the weekend, enjoy a lively mix of reggae and ska bands, DJs, and local artists, all set in Thornborough’s open-air venue. With licensed bars, food stalls, and plenty of space to enjoy the music, this is a friendly, feel-good festival that’s become a regular highlight of the Thornborough calendar.
