Spread Christmas joy with the Touchwood Gift Tree Appeal

Touchwood Gift Tree Appeal Solihull

This Christmas, Touchwood is inviting the local community to help spread festive cheer with its Gift Tree Appeal. This is a heartwarming initiative designed to help make Christmas magical for children from families who may be struggling financially this year.

The cost-of-living crisis continues to put pressure on families, many of whom are struggling to cover the basics – heating homes and putting food on the table – let alone buying gifts. For some children, the reality is that Christmas morning could pass without a single present.

How it works

The Gift Tree Appeal aims to change that. Visitors to Touchwood can select a tag from the beautifully decorated Gift Tree, located outside John Lewis. Each tag represents a child in need and includes a child’s name, age and a few suggested gifts. Shoppers then purchase a gift and return it to the Touchwood Information Desk. Organisers will collect and distribute the presents via Solihull Family Hubs, ensuring they reach the families who need them most.

Sam Staite, Appeal Organiser commented:
“Every year we like to give back to the local community. This year we came up with the idea of a Gift Tree. I contacted Touchwood and they were keen to support us, as were John Lewis who kindly donated the tree. We are hoping to reach as many local families as possible who are struggling this Christmas.”

Louise Woodward, Marketing & Events Manager at Touchwood, added:

‘At Touchwood, we always look for ways to support and celebrate our local communities. No child should wake up on Christmas morning without a gift. But the Gift Tree is about more than presents – it’s about showing families that their community cares. Every donation, no matter how small, will help create magical memories for a child this festive season’

Councillor Karen Grinsell, Leader of Solihull Council, concurred:

“We’re delighted to be teaming up with Touchwood to support children, young people, and families in Solihull this Christmas. We know that a small helping hand can make a really big difference in easing the pressure that parents and carers can feel this time of year.  The Hubs are the perfect places to spread Christmas cheer and festive fun throughout the community, so we can’t wait to spread a little extra joy.”

The appeal runs throughout the Christmas period, and every contribution will help create magical memories for local children.

Together, we can make this Christmas brighter for every child in Solihull.
