Compton Care, a specialist provider of palliative and bereavement support, is once again teaming up with City of Wolverhampton Council to launch its popular ‘Treecycling’ scheme.
This eco-friendly initiative, now in its sixth year, offers residents across all WV postcodes, plus DY3, WS2, 3, 6 and 10, the chance to have their real Christmas trees collected and recycled in exchange for a donation that supports Compton Care’s vital work in the community.
Tree collections will take place between 9 – 12 January 2026, with all trees shredded and turned into biofuel, helping the planet while supporting local people living with life limiting conditions.
Rachel Overfield, Chief Executive Officer at Compton Care said: “We would like to say a big thank you to the City of Wolverhampton Council for supporting the campaign again this year and to everyone who has generously treecycled with us in the past.
“Last year we collected over 1,100 trees and raised an amazing £22,000. By supporting us this Christmas, your donation will contribute to the specialist care we provide to local people when they need us most.”
Every year, the charity supports local people living with life limiting conditions through its range of specialist services, including clinical care on its Inpatient Unit. It also supports patients out in the community, providing specialist care in the place they call home. Patients’ families also have access to the charity’s services and specialist bereavement support.
The Treecycling scheme was officially launched by The Right Worshipful The Mayor of Wolverhampton, Councillor Craig Collingswood, who has selected Compton Care as one of his chosen charities to support during his term in office.
He said: “Compton Care does incredible work in our communities all year round and its Treecycling scheme is a great way to support them. It really is a win-win, just register your tree, the team will collect and dispose of it in an environmentally-friendly way, and your donation will help them continue to provide vital services to local people and their families”.
Joining The Mayor at the launch was Councillor Bhupinder Gakhal, Cabinet Member for Resident Services at City of Wolverhampton Council, who added: “We’re delighted to be teaming up once again with Compton Care following the success of last year’s Treecycling campaign. If you have a real tree, register for a collection and support this fantastic cause”.
Rachel concluded: “We would also like to say a big thank you to our Treecycling partners, JustHelping, and our friends at C&W Commercials and Wolverhampton Tree Services who generously volunteer their time and expertise to make the scheme possible.”
