The Red Shoe Walk
On Sunday 3rd August at 10am, Meadowhall and Sheffield Hospitals Charity are inviting friends, family and colleagues to take on the first-ever Red Shoe Walk, a family-friendly 3km walk around the outskirts of the centre to raise vital funds to improve dementia care across the city.
The event is suitable for all ages and abilities and will see an exciting line-up of special guests, including Sonic the Hedgehog with his statement red shoes, helping to get everyone warmed up.
The colour red is unique in increasing brain wave activity in people with dementia, it easily catches their attention and can even help to stimulate appetite even through to the late stages.
People joining the walk will be encouraged to don their brightest red shoes or pick up a free pair of red shoe covers on the day to show their support.
