90 Years in 90 Minutes – A Celebration and Tribute to the Legacy of the Joseph Rowntree Theatre

The Joseph Rowntree Theatre Company invite you to join them in celebrating the Theatre’s 90th anniversary with a trip down memory lane! 

Since its foundation in 1935, the theatre has been home to a wide range of events, including a variety of musicals. Journey back through 90 years of history as the talented performers of the JRTC share the theatre’s story and how it has developed, from its beginnings as a recreational centre for workers at the Rowntree chocolate factory through to its modern-day status as a cultural home for amateur and professional productions alike. You’ll hear songs from the huge variety of shows performed here over the years and learn about the history of the theatre, shared by some of the dedicated team of volunteers who keep the theatre running and make it the thriving community hub it is today.

The Joseph Rowntree Theatre Company is the theatre’s in-house theatre group, who raise money for the theatre’s maintenance and development while entertaining audiences with innovative new productions of both classic and contemporary musicals. The cast and crew cannot wait to bring this special concert to the stage that means so much to the local community.
