10 Top Tips for a fun packed February Half Term in Solihull and Warwickshire
February Half Term is often written off as the poor relation of the school holidays. The weather can’t be relied upon and there are no big festivals taking place to celebrate together. Here are Raring2go! we’re busting this myth with a round-up of our 10 favourite places to go and things to do around Solihull and Warwickshire this February Half term!
1. West Midlands Safari Park – Character Week
West Midlands Safari Park is kicking off its main season with an exciting February half-term event, running for nine days! Guests will have the chance to meet some famous friends as favourite children’s characters make special appearances in the Safari Academy. On selected dates, Bluey, Peppa Pig, Captain Barnacles from Octonauts, and Chase from PAW Patrol will be making personal appearances, meeting fans at intervals throughout the day.
2. Hatton Adventure World – Zoobee’s Magic Academy
This half term Hatton Adventure World’s great indoor offer is boosted with Zoobee’s Magic Academy packed with spellbinding fun for the whole family as Zoobee shares his journey as a young wizard in training. Highlights will include Magic Arts & Crafts where children can decorate their own wand, Magic Academy workshops will enable children to learn spells and perform magic, plus Family Magic Shows!
3. Thinktank – Wild Wonders Half Term Show
Do you want to find out what one of the most voracious predators in your garden is? Come and watch the Wild Wonders Show at Thinktank this half term. We invite you to explore the vital roles animals play in our lives and to learn how we can protect them. Through engaging demonstrations and fun activities, you will encounter amazing creatures and discover their remarkable adaptations, making them essential to nature and often inspiring human innovation.
4. Tourmaline and the Museum of Marvels Trail
From 15th – 23rd February join us during February Half Term for the Tourmaline and the Museum of Marvels Trail, organised by Kids in Museums and Little Tiger. The national trail for families is inspired by Tourmaline and the Museum of Marvels by Ruth Lauren – a fun, feminist adventure series for children aged 9 – 12. Tourmaline’s strange new magical powers are causing chaos and she desperately wants to know how to control them. 5. Stratford Butterfly Farm – Leaf Cutter Ants and Minibeasts
This half term from 15 – 23 February sees the return of the fascinating ‘Leaf-Cutter Ants’ in Minibeast Metropolis at Stratford Butterfly Farm! New to the Butterfly Farm and on display in Minibeast Metropolis, is an exquisite ‘Orchid Mantis’, Hymenopus Coronatus, which are native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia. Meet the Mini-Beast handling and Butterfly Life-cycle demonstrations will also be held daily in the Discovery Zone at 11:00am each day throughout half term. The Gift Shop has a beautiful range of nature inspired Fairtrade gifts and sells chilled drinks, snacks, confectionery and ice-creams.
6. Magic Alley – The Collector Murder Mystery
Step Into the Shadows of Mystery with “The Collector” at Magic Alley, Stratford this February Half Term. Do you have what it takes to join the ranks of the renowned Magic Alley Detective Agency? In The Collector, aspiring sleuths are called upon to tackle a chilling cold case that has stumped even the most seasoned investigators. This is your chance to prove yourself as a detective-in-training!
7. The Chocolate Shed – Chocolate Making workshops
Children’s Chocolate Making Workshops in our Warwickshire chocolaterie for children to come and celebrate the joy of making hand made chocolates. During this season’s workshops we are offering children the opportunity to come and and try their hand at chocolate making and make some delicious chocolatey treats to take home with them and enjoy.
In a Snapshot… The MAD Museum does what it says on the tin! Based in the center of Stratford upon Avon, this quirky attraction displays interactive pieces of mechanical art, in particular; kinetic art and automata.
Solihull Play Town is a safe, creative and imagination-based role play centre in the heart of Solihull. At our bespoke and carefully designed learning space, your children can discover life as doctor, experience being a fire fighter, enjoy getting pampered in the salon, or even work as a shop assistant.
