This Georgian mansion was home to the Pennyman family. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, parkland & farmland, it’s a green oasis in the heart of Middlesbrough.

Ormesby Hall is a  Georgian mansion surrounded 250 acres of parkland and farmland which offer year round seasonal walks with a colourful formal garden.  Spend time with the family exploring the servant’s wing and watching the model railways pass by, with a special Thomas the Tank Engine layout controlled by children!

Don’t miss the surprise attraction of two model railway layouts in this historic house.

When you visit Ormesby Hall and venture into the servant’s wing you will come across the familiar noise of trains. Following the sound you will be surprised to find there are two permanent model railway layouts in the house, Corfe Castle and the interactive Thomas the Tank Engine.

Explore Ormesby Hall – Indoors & Outdoors

Then experience the life of a Victorian servant and explore the Laundry and Kitchen.Uncover the family’s stories from ‘wicked’ Sir James to Colonel Jim, survivor of the First World War, and the theatrical exploits of his wife Ruth.

Explore the gardens,discover the garden games, croquet and natural play area to enjoy outdoors.

Families can also enjoy seasonal trails and year round events.
