Wassail facts, Wassail and Wassailing is associated with Orchards, celebrating the harvest and ensuring next years is just as good.
Wassailing traditions predominate in the parts of the country where apple production and orchards are bountifull, It is held on and arround Old 12th Night (more on that later).
It usually involves making noise around the orchard to scare away evil spirits (in the old days farmers would shoot guns into the tree tops) , making an offering to the trees in the form of toast soaked in beer or cider, singing, drinking and general merriment.
Make sure you wrap up warm, wear sturdy footwear and take something along to make a noise with!
