Twixmas Tips – 10 things to do between Christmas and New Year around Solihull and Warwickshire
Does anyone know what day it is? During this hazy ‘Twixmas’ period between Christmas and New Year, if you are looking for things to do and places to go with the family around Solihull and Warwickshire we have some ideas for you.
1. Stratford Upon Avon Butterfly Farm
From mid-December through the New Year, the Butterfly Farm’s tropical rainforest environment will come alive with Blue Morpho butterflies as they gracefully fly among the lush foliage. The butterflies, which originate from the tropical forests of Latin America from Mexico to Colombia, are among the largest butterflies in the world, with wings spanning from 12 – 20cm!
2. Planetarium Shows and Light, Science, Action Shows at Thinktank
A fantastic live show all about the science of light. Together we will explore what the sun and the earth have to do with those short winter days, how we might use light to have a little fun, and even use light to add a splash of colour. Step inside our Planetarium and join one of three planetarium shows.
In a Snapshot… The MAD Museum does what it says on the tin! Based in the center of Stratford upon Avon, this quirky attraction displays interactive pieces of mechanical art, in particular; kinetic art and automata.

7. Birmingham Christmas Reindeer Trail
Families and other visitors to Birmingham can follow Brum’s Christmas Reindeer Trail, created with art trail experts Wild In Art, until Tuesday January 6. Four of the reindeer have been refreshed with new designs. There is now even a Roy Wood I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day theme, along with a reindeer decorated with Christmas trees, another featuring a snowman with twinkling lights and a cheeky faced reindeer bursting from gift wrap.
