Review- Cinderella at The Old Rep
WOW! What a show the fab and very talented team at BOA and The Old Rep have put on!
We all know the classic story of Cinderella and how the fairy god mother helps her to get to the ball to meet Prince Charming….. The Old Rep has brought the story up to date and it’s set in Birmingham! So you get the full Brummie experience with lots of comedy and local culture included. We still have Cinders played by the super talented Jaiden Tsang who’s singing is sensational and stage presence is perfection. The two wickedly fabulous step sisters were Chloe and Kim played outrageously by Sam Yetunde and Victoria Tew, they stole the show with their selfie taking, jokes and fab singing. Theresa Collins set the scene as the Fairy God mother and told the story of Cinderella with warmth, lots of jokes and perfect comedy timing, all whilst racing around the stage keeping everyone on their toes. Stefan Davies as Prince Charming delivered on all levels from his dancing, singing and of course being a charming gentleman to our Cinders. His right hand man Dandini was acted by the super talented Jordan Laidley and he was hilarious and really got the audience involved. Julie Ann Baker returns to the stage as the mean Baroness Hardup and she didn’t disappoint with her wicked words and mean actions to our poor Cinders and she was even mean to her own daughters!
If you want a really good belly laugh this Christmas, take the whole family along to see this bostin show at The Old Rep – you won’t be disappointed! Congratulations to everyone involved, from front of house, all the staff, actors, musicians and the team at BOA.
5 shining stars given.
