What’s New at West Midlands Safari Park in 2025

I recently had the incredible privilege of celebrating my 40th birthday with an unforgettable stay at one of West Midlands Safari Park’s Tiger Lodges; a truly personal highlight. I was also invited back just yesterday for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at everything new and upcoming at the park. So, with a unique mix of insider insight and first-hand experience, here’s everything you need to know about what’s new at West Midlands Safari Park in 2025…
There’s plenty to roar about at West Midlands Safari Park this year, with exciting new animal arrivals, updated experiences, and luxurious overnight stays that bring you closer than ever to wildlife. Here’s what families can look forward to in 2025:
👀 New Viewpoints: See the Big Cats on Foot!
The Cheetah Viewpoint opened in February; for the first time, day guests can walk up and observe cheetahs on foot as part of the African Walking Trail. Meet brothers Azrael and Bappe, known for their striking speed and sleek beauty. Spot the difference by looking at their tails – Azrael’s has a white tip, while Bappe’s is black.
Also, brand new this month, along the African Walking trail, is the White Lion Viewpoint, where guests can now see the park’s pride of lionesses in a beautifully redesigned habitat. With climbing structures, scratching posts, and a pool, it’s the perfect environment for them to thrive, and for you to admire them up close!
🦏New Babies at the Park
There’s been a baby boom at WMSP! Highlights include:
-
Three Sumatran tiger cubs, born in January to mum Dourga, are already melting hearts as they explore their den.
-
A rare Indian rhino calf arrived earlier this month (May), born to first-time mum Sunanda.
-
Plus, a playful Grevy’s zebra foal, giraffe calf, and anoa, were all born in the second half of last year.
Don’t miss your chance to see these little ones grow throughout the year! (What a great reason to buy an annual pass)
🐾 Daily Feeding Encounters
Enjoy magical moments with the little ones (and grown-ups!). Join in on the daily feeding encounters where you can feed the following animals at certain times of the day:
-
Meerkats
-
Penguins
-
Lorikeets
-
And starting this May half-term, giraffe feeding joins the lineup!
Feeding pots are available in limited numbers – get there early to avoid disappointment! Read more about times and price here.
🍦 Cool Treats with a Purpose: NUII Ice Cream
Good news for ice cream lovers – NUII ice creams are now available at WMSP! These delicious treats are the perfect way to cool down after exploring the trails or spotting animals on the Safari Drive. But they’re more than just tasty. NUII is committed to supporting wildlife conservation projects around the globe, including efforts to protect endangered species and their habitats. So, every time you enjoy a NUII ice cream, you’re also contributing to vital conservation work – making snack time that little bit more meaningful. You can read about some of their projects within the park, while you take a break with your ice cream, by the Hippo View Point.
💷 Supporting Conservation: Where Your Money Goes
Here’s something families can feel good about: proceeds from ticket sales, lodge bookings, and experiences are helping fund state-of-the-art new homes for many of the park’s animals. These modern habitats are designed with welfare and conservation in mind, giving animals more space, natural enrichment, and 24/7 access to indoor and outdoor areas.
Your visit helps make this possible, so every adventure supports a better life for the animals you love to see.

🐯 MAY 2025 is Tiger Takeover Month – Now is the BEST time to see the Baby Tigers, before they are released into the large Tiger Habitat, where you will then need to spot them roaming through the land, weaving in between and hiding behind all the greenery. During Tiger Takeover, the cubs remain in their little den, where you can easily see them being playful through peepholes. Read more about the Tiger Takeover here.
