Inspiring a Love of Food – Meet Prept. Foundation

Founded with a clear purpose and big ambitions, Prept. Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation on a mission to reconnect children with real food. Through hands-on cooking experiences, food education, and access to professional kitchens, the foundation is shaping a future where every young person – regardless of their background – can develop life-changing food skills, confidence, and even a potential career in the hospitality industry.

Who We Are

Prept. Foundation was born from the belief that food has the power to bring people together, build confidence, and transform lives. The foundation delivers immersive, inspiring food education programmes to children and young people of all ages – focusing on communities where those opportunities are often missing.

We introduce children to high-quality, hands-on learning experiences that take them far beyond the classroom: from using knives safely and understanding where ingredients come from, to preparing a restaurant-quality meal from scratch. Prept works in partnership with schools, local authorities, food producers, chefs and sponsors to make it all happen.

What We Do

  1. Food Skills for Life
    We teach children the practical kitchen skills they need to prepare real, nutritious food – equipping them with tools they’ll carry into adulthood. These are skills that promote independence, resilience, and wellbeing.
  2. From Farm to Fork
    Children will learn where their food comes from. We take them into farms and kitchens to explore the full journey of ingredients and think more consciously about what they eat.
  3. Professional Pathways
    Through partnerships with hospitality professionals and employers, we create opportunities for young people to explore careers in the food industry. From shadowing chefs to presenting their dishes to local VIPs, students get real-world experiences that broaden their horizons.

Why It Matters

In many parts of the UK, children don’t make memories around a table, and access to cooking facilities, fresh ingredients and supportive learning environments is limited. Prept tackles these inequalities head-on by bringing high-quality culinary education directly into schools and community settings, especially in underserved areas.

We’ve seen first-hand how our programmes boost confidence, improve focus, encourage teamwork, and even support better eating habits at home. Parents often tell us how their children come home excited to cook dinner for the family – or how they’ve had their best day at school ever!

In a time when food poverty and disconnection from healthy eating are national concerns, Prept is proud to be part of the solution.

How Families Can Get Involved

Prept works mainly through schools, but we also run community pop-ups, family cooking events, and holiday programmes – so keep an eye out in your area! We’re always looking for supportive local businesses, volunteers, and parent ambassadors who can help us spread the word.

You can also donate directly to help fund a place for a child who otherwise wouldn’t get the chance to take part.
