Splashy Birthday!
Cut-price leisure offers announced as Tees Active celebrates 20th anniversary
THE cost of staying healthy and having fun is being reduced thanks to a range of promotions being lined up to mark the 20th anniversary of a successful charitable trust.
On May 4, Tees Active will be celebrating 20 years of working successfully with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council to help local people stay healthy and active.
And to mark the milestone, Tees Active is offering 20 per cent off a number of activities – including skating at Billingham Forum Ice Arena; aqua inflatables at Thornaby Pool; ‘Big Splash’ family sessions at Splash in Stockton; kayaking courses for beginners plus Air Trail high ropes at Tees Barrage; and a free gym pass with Activ8 Health and Fitness.
The trust is also staging a prize draw for a local charity to have an exclusive ice skating party at Billingham Forum, which was recently voted the best ice arena outside London.
On Thursday this week, Tees Active staff will be out in town centres, handing out free scratch cards with activities as prizes.
And, on Saturday, they will be handing out raffle tickets to customers for a social media prize draw to win a range of prizes.
Tees Active managing director, Leon Jones, said: “We are really proud of what we have achieved, in partnership with Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, to provide first-class leisure facilities and services, which make a huge contribution to public health.
Our priority has been to invest in and improve services to meet the demand of our customers and to move with the times, and the fact that we now welcome more than million visitors each year shows what an impact we have on people’s lives.”
An important part of our strategy has been to place great emphasis on community wellbeing by delivering many successful initiatives to support vulnerable and hard-to-reach areas. Therefore, we want to mark this special milestone by offering local people a taste of some of the activities we have to offer.”
Neil Mitchell, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Head of Environment, Leisure & Green Infrastructure, said:
Huge progress has been made in the 20 years the local authority has been working with Tees Active to enhance leisure opportunities across the borough, and these offers and promotions are a great way to celebrate the anniversary. Here’s to the next 20 years!”
