Review: The Great White Food Festival
Today, our reviewers have been to The Great White Food Festival in Harrogate! Here’s what they had to say about their foodie day out;
”When we were asked to review the Great White Food Festival, a food festival to celebrate the 45-year career of world-renowned chef, Marco Pierre White, we jumped at the chance!
My husband is a Head Chef & Development chef himself, and Marco is one of his idols, so we dragged him along too (not that it took much persuading!)
This festival is the first ‘Great White Food Festival’, held over 3 days in Harrogate at the Convention Centre (there are still tickets left for the final day, Sunday). There are food demonstrations, lots of testers, a huge hall full of artisan foodie makers, there’s street food, plenty of beer, spirit and cocktail tasting, masterclasses and so much more. Plus, there is a pumpkin trail for children along with a place for children to have some downtime, carve a pumpkin and enjoy some free activities including face painting!
A highlight has to be the use of the Royal Hall for demonstrations with some incredible chefs, including none other than Pierre Koffman himself (although places to see these are very limited and fill up very quickly)
We were lucky enough to catch a demonstration in the heart of the event that Marco popped in to help with, alongside celebrated local chef, Tim Bilton. I even exchanged a few words with Marco – he was ever so polite, I can’t recall the last time someone called me Madame (not in a pleasant way anyway!)
Throughout the day there are also opportunities to meet March and have books signed, which are extremely popular.
We’ve enjoyed a lovely few hours at the festival, sampled lots, discovered new brands, brought some lovely products home (chocolate, venison sausages, marshmallows, non-alcoholic spirits, a MPW book and some stock to name a few) and met the man himself! All in all, a successful day! ”
