Redefining ‘Women’s Work’

Like many women, when I found out I was expecting my little girl I wondered what that meant for my career.  I knew the long daily commute into London wasn’t something I wanted to do anymore but I still wanted to work and enjoy a career in an industry I love.  Like many women I decided to work for myself and was lucky enough to discover Raring2Go!

I’m very fortunate that being part of a franchise, I work with a network of extraordinary women around the country but for many women working for themselves it can be lonely.  This year, three local ladies came together to combat that by launching ‘Women’s Work’ a network of local female business owners with lots in common.  I’d come across them on Instagram and was keen for you all to hear more about them….

“We, Jo (Instagram Specialist & Coach ), Sophie (Digital Marketing Strategist and Consultant) and Lauren (Virtual Assistant) all work for ourselves and love the flexibility to work around our kids, but sometimes between working and family life, being at home all the time can get a bit tedious!

Redefining ‘Women’s Work‘ we run kick ass businesses that empower and support other women plus we juggle family life, love to chat, drink prosecco, and laugh (a lot).

Having not found a local group that connected us with women who love the same thing, we decided to create one!

And since March this year we have hosted over 120 fabulous female business owners based in Surrey, West Sussex & Hampshire. From garden designers and party planners to photographers, nutritionists and accountants, we have attracted a wonderful group of women whose common ground is to support one another without judgement whilst having some fun along the way.

Our events include relaxed evening drinks and nibbles at independent local venues, always lots of fun and laughter and the promise to meet other like-minded business women – our last event saw over 40 wonderful women spend a beautiful Summers evening sipping English sparkling wine at the spectacular Albury Vineyard.

We have also had huge success with our local co-working days which have taken place in some great locations around Surrey such as the Coppa Club in Haslemere and Cranleigh Golf & Country Club…it’s always important to remember how good it is to bounce ideas around and to enjoy some company whilst working.

And the best bit? Seeing the collaborations that have been forged when these amazing women come together – and there have been many, it’s fantastic to witness!

There is lots more to come and we have already started planning a super exciting event for the Autumn….

So if you are a female small business owner or work remotely and simply would like to meet like minded people then join us, we’d love to meet you! Follow us on instagram @womensworksocial and sign up to our newsletter to be the first to hear about our next event… it’s going to be one to remember!
