Celebrating Apollo’s 50th Anniversary

1f0a26761073b9038fe0470badb61091.jpgOn the 20th 2019 NASA will be celebrating 50 years since the Eagle Lander touched down on the moon. Below we have compiled a list of venues in the UK that you can take your children to to find out more about space.

  • Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that landed the first two people on the Moon.
  • Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin (19 minutes after Neil Armstrong), both American, landed the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle on July 20, 1969
  • The men spent 21 ½ hours on the moon collecting lunar material to bring back to Earth
  • Neil Armstrong carried a piece of wood from the Wright Brothers plane with him
They left pictures of humans and voice recordings on the moon

To celebrate get the children out to visit a local space exhibition…
