Active Sunderland BIG Walk
The Active Sunderland BIG Walk returns for 2018, whether you're looking for a fun family activity or an opportunity to get off the beaten track and discover a stunning, hidden corner of rural Wearside.
Three route options are available to participants; 3, 7 & 11 miles.
This year's 3 mile route involves an optional scavenger hunt trail around Herrington Country Park providing the perfect chance to discover more about the history and nature of one of the city's finest outdoor spaces. This route is ideal for beginners, families or those with mobility issues.
Both the 7 mile and 11 mile routes take in the beautiful river Wear valley behind Penshaw Monument. This area of unspoiled countryside is home to a rich mosaic of habitats and wildlife and is a fantastic place to walk, with mile upon mile of footpaths through open countryside, ancient woodland and along the banks of the river Wear.
Time: 10am - 4pm
Naughty but nice Puddings!
Check out our delicious puddings, my favourite is the limoncello trifle, not suitable for the kids, but there are some other scrummy recipes that the whole family can enjoy! Take a look in our pudding section for recipes to make summer BBQ's and eating alfresco all the more tasty! My girls LOVE the chocolate pizza - making it, but mostly eating it!
Over the weekends and holidays there are always times when your children need some chill out time, or to fill an hour or so, or they say the dreaded 5 letter word - BORED! Well, our KidsZone is here to rescue you and them from these moments. Full of puzzles, colouring in sheets and activities from films and programmes there is lots to keep busy!
