British Science Week (5-14 March 2021)

This year, the usual range of events won't be taking place but there are still lots of opportunities to get involved. Take a look at the resources and activities on their website to give you some ideas of where to get started.

If you are still in need of inspiration some of our brilliant museums have lots of ideas for you to that will help to keep the kids entertained at home (and maybe even learning something at the same time.....ssshhh!)

Thinktank, Birmingham Science Museum

If you’re looking for inspiration for British Science Week, check out some short Kitchen Science videos and let your inner mad scientist run wild! You can learn how to build a space lander that can safely bring an egg back to earth and experiment with cabbage as well as some other downloadable resources.

Manchester Science Festival

The Science and Industry Museum is preparing for 10 days of online scientific celebration as Manchester Science Festival goes digital between 12 -21 February 2021. The museum has unveiled a programme of free online talks, exhibitions, debates 3a45343a08a653bf8f62813eb1c156ac.jpgand activities to enjoy from home this February while it remains temporarily closed. Events are now available to book with more activities including activities families can do at home being added in the coming weeks. All events are free, with donations welcome to support the museum's work.

Let's Go Live

Let’s Go Live with Maddie & Greg” is a live family science show on YouTube hosted by Maddie Moate (CBeebies) & Greg Foot. During the first lockdown they broadcast daily half-hour shows packed with fun, facts and family activities LIVE from their spare room.  In the summer they managed to get out and about, filming at various locations, but for lockdown 3, they have now returned to their spare room to film fun activities for you to try at home, including how to design your own super hero!
