Dinton Pre-School

We are very fortunate to have three out door play areas, two of which are large, partly astro-turfed areas, where the children enjoy riding on the various toys/ swings/ climbing frames, trampoline and gardening.

One of these areas has a large canopy providing all round protection from the weather. In the third grassed area, the children enjoy constructing their own balancing and obstacle courses using planks and tyres, as well as caring for our pet chickens!

We support and encourage the children to become independent and confident learners. Progress is observed and recorded in each childs 'Learning Journal' which is used to plan effectively for each individual child.

Children have free access to a separate partly covered outdoor play area, as well as the more challenging play equipment and gardens, where they grow vegtables for snack time, and a pond to observe tadpoles and other pond life.  All of the children have daily access to the outdoor environment including the plant nursery and the fields around the school premises.

Our latest Ofsted report noted that "children are confident and happy in this welcoming and nurturing environment. Staff know the children well and work closely with parents and other settings and agencies to ensure that they can fully meet the unique needs of each child. They take positive steps to ensure that all children can play a full role in activities and reach their full potential. They carefully monitor the effectiveness of the provision and a positive attitude to further development in order to improve outcomes for children".
