Help with Handwriting

Improving your child’s handwriting

Indentifying difficulties with handwriting and providing assistance can enhance children’s ability to develop their handwriting skills and increase their enjoyment of writing. I ensure that the exercises are fun and engage the child in each activity avoiding the extra work becoming a chore.I will assess your child’s posture, pencil grip and formation of letters. Together we will work on aspects that need correcting: shape, size, spacing, slant, speed and style.

The importance of good handwriting

Poor handwriting can affect a child in so many ways, it can lead to underachievement, frustration and lack of motivation in school work. Good handwriting can boost self-confidence. Being able to write confidently, clearly and quickly is especially beneficial when it comes to exams. Rather than worrying about the quality of their handwriting the child can concentrate on the content of their written work.

People think that children don't need to write clearly these days because we now have computers, however it is still very important that your child masters this skill. If children struggle with writing, this means the motor side of their brain is struggling and therefore the creative side is struggling.

Once your child's handwriting has been assessed, I can work with them one to one. Your child’s handwriting can improve with relevant exercises and practice, so give me a call now to find out more.

Be safe this Bonfire Night by making sure that you, pets and your family know and follow the very important Fireworks Code.
